Bella Vista/Bentonville Photography Club
May 15, 2018
The Bella Vista/Bentonville Photography Club met May 15th, 2018 at Hometown Bank in Jane, Missouri for their regular monthly meeting.
Doug Keck, President, presented the program on camera settings for night photography that included information for photographing lightning and the Milky Way. Tips for lightning shots included using a wide angle lens with a tripod, keeping the ISO at 100, using an f stop of 6.3 or 7.1, and a shutter speed of around 15 sec. Focus needs to be set at a mid-distance prior to shooting and then locked on manual. He, also, suggested using incandescent white balance and to adjust in post processing to get your desired results. To get Milky Way shots, you’ll need a completely dark sky.
This month’s photography contest category was “Blooming Spring”. Natalie Roller’s entry won first place, Jean Berg’s second place, and Grace Nowak’s third place.
June’s contest category is “Beat the Heat” using water photography. A club outing is planned for May 17th at 6:30 p.m. at Lake Ann in Bella Vista to practice taking water shots.
The June meeting will be held on June 19th at 6:00 p.m. at the Hometown Bank in Jane.
